Season 3 of The Summer I Turned Pretty promises to be a rollercoaster of feelings and the soundtrack alone is already breaking hearts.

Belly, Conrad & Jeremiah’s love triangle intensifies in season 3 of The Summer I Turned Pretty.
The much-awaited trailer for The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 3 is finally here, and it’s as emotional, nostalgic, and romantic as fans hoped. The 52-second teaser not only teases a drama-packed final season but also sparks major speculation thanks to two well-chosen Taylor Swift tracks.
The trailer begins with a montage of sweet moments between Belly (Lola Tung) and Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno), backed by Taylor Swift’s Daylight. The track, known for its lyrics about emerging from darkness and embracing a new beginning, perfectly complements Belly and Jeremiah’s tender connection. It gives Team Jeremiah supporters something to cheer about—until the tone shifts dramatically.
In a surprising twist, the final seconds of the teaser cut to a clip of Conrad (Christopher Briney) appearing at a front door, holding a candy cane. At that exact moment, Red by Taylor Swift begins playing, specifically the lyric: “But loving him was red.” For Swifties and show loyalists alike, this musical switch isn’t just an aesthetic choice—it’s a signal.
The two songs, Daylight and Red, represent two very different kinds of love in Swift’s universe. Red is about a tumultuous, unforgettable first love, while Daylight represents healing and peace. The shift from one to the other subtly underscores Belly’s internal conflict: the safe and certain future she could have with Jeremiah, or the deep, complicated history she shares with Conrad.
This isn’t the first time Jenny Han, the showrunner and author of the original books, has used Swift’s music to great emotional effect. In fact, Swift songs have been part of the show’s DNA since the beginning. But this particular musical cue has sent fans into a frenzy, analyzing every lyric for hints about what lies ahead.
Season 3 is set to pick up after Belly’s junior year of college, and the official synopsis promises plenty of romantic tension. “Belly’s looking forward to another summer in Cousins with her soulmate, Jeremiah,” the description reads. “Her future seems set, until some core-shaking events bring her first love Conrad back into her life.”
As Belly stands at an emotional crossroads, the trailer suggests that choosing between the two brothers won’t be easy. While fans of the book trilogy may think they know where the story is headed, Han has hinted at some surprises this season. “There are the things that [fans] know and then there are things they think they know, and then there’s going to be, hopefully, things that surprise them,” she teased.
