Suriya Begins Shooting For Director Venky Atluri’s Next
Suriya, who was last seen in Retro with Pooja Hedge, has officially started shooting for his upcoming film with acclaimed Telugu director Venky Atluri. The film is tentatively titled Suriya 46 and other details are kept under warp. Today, the makers made the grand announcement along with it release a poster too. Fans are super excited.
Taking to their X handle, Sithata Entertainments shared the poster and wrote, “The first step towards celebration, emotion and entertainment #Suriya46 shoot begins!” The poster features Suriya in a stylish semi-formal get-up, as the text on the poster read, “and the Celebration begins”. Venky Atluri, known for storytelling with emotional heft in Telugu hits like Vaathi and Lucky Baskhar, will also team up with composer G.V. Prakash Kumar. The film also stars Mamitha Baiju of ‘Premalu’ fame alongside Suriya.

Venky Atluri’s ‘Lucky Bhaskar’ was a superhit at the box office upon its release in October 2024, grossing over Rs 110 crore at the worldwide box office. In the film, Suriya portrays a character struggling to break free from a violent past. Directed by Karthik Subbaraj, the movie has garnered positive reviews, with critics especially lauding Suriya’s powerful performance. The cast also includes notable actors like Pooja Hegde, Joju George, Karunakaran, Nassar, Prakash Raj, and Jayaram, adding depth to the intense narrative. In addition, Shriya Saran made a special cameo role in the film. Overall, Retro has made a strong impression on audiences and critics alike.
According to Sacnilk.com, Retro has earned a net collection of Rs 60.26 crore in India, with a gross domestic total of Rs 70.97 crore. Globally, the film has amassed a gross revenue of Rs 96.97 crore. Retro stands as one of the highest-grossing films in Suriya’s career to date. This movie also marks the first-ever collaboration between director Karthik Subbaraj and actor Suriya.
