Sapphire, the British pop sensation Ed Sheeran’s latest track, has taken the internet by storm, particularly with its cross-cultural fusion and vibrant music video featuring Shah Rukh Khan and Arijit Singh. The song has been an instant hit among the fans, especially among Indians and now singer Neha Kakkar has also expressed her love for this peppy track, saying that she is ‘next level obsessed’ with it.
Taking to Instagram, the singer dropped a video of herself grooving to the Punjabi remix of Ed Sheeran’s hit track with dancers and social media influencers like Mohit Yadav, Prajwal Gurung and Adarsh Sharma. Sharing the clip, she wrote in the caption, “Don’t know why but this song feels like my Own! Next level obsessed with Sapphire and then I hear this Remix by @desifrenzy too good.”
As soon as she dropped the post, the comment section was flooded with reactions from fans and admirers. An Instagram user wrote, “Uff your expressions, your aura, your moves—Nehu you OWN this song now!!!” While some users asked the singer to drop her version of the song. A person shared, “Need your version.” One of them shared, “The way you vibe with this remix >> unmatched energy Nehuuu.”
The video for Sapphire is directed by Liam Pethick and features Arijit Singh and a cameo from Shah Rukh Khan. It starts with Ed singing the song on a rooftop at dawn, then moves to a vibrant journey through numerous locations. Ed’s adventures take him from the rooftop to calm beaches, riverbanks, bustling markets, neighbourhood eateries, and Bollywood backlots.
Notably, Sapphire is a part of Sheeran’s album, Play. In a recent statement, he said, “Sapphire was the first song I finished for Play, and it gave me a sense of direction for the album.” This is why I finished the recording process in Goa, surrounded by some of India’s most talented musicians. It was a very creative process. I created the music video with Liam and Nic during my trip to India earlier this year, and we wanted to highlight the country’s beauty and culture. For me, recording Arijit was the last piece of the puzzle.:
He also shared that a complete Punjabi version of Sapphire will be released in the coming weeks.
