Rapper Macklemore’s home in Seattle was robbed recently, and the police were called after two men entered the house without permission at around 1 AM. The artist’s nanny was the one who alerted the police. According to reports, the break-in happened while Macklemore’s three children were sleeping inside. The intruders sprayed bear spray at the nanny, but she managed to get away safely. The nanny also told the police she thought the attack might be connected to politics, but no more information has been shared.
A source informed People, “She escaped, but three children were still inside the house. [The caller] also added that the house belonged to a high-profile individual and that she believed the crime may have been politically motivated for some reason.”
During the incident, Macklemore was in Ireland for a tour performance. The rapper shares three children, Sloane, Colette, and Hugo, with his partner.
According to the Seattle Police Department (SPD), the suspects “held her to the ground while they ransacked the residence, stealing thousands of dollars worth of items. The suspects were inside for several minutes until the victim was able to get free and call the police. The suspects fled shortly after the victim was able to escape. The Robbery Unit and the Latent Print unit responded to the scene.”
The Seattle Times reported that the nanny had just put Macklemore’s kids to sleep when she saw two men coming in through the patio door. One of the men suddenly sprayed her with bear spray, which left her uncomfortable. Strangely, after doing this, the same man started helping her wash the spray out of her eyes and was scared himself. Meanwhile, the other man asked her where the “jewels” were. She showed them things like jewellery and watches. After taking the items, the men also grabbed some shoes and pushed her to the floor, while taking her phone with them.
After the burglary, the nanny went to nearby houses asking for help. One neighbour finally opened the door and let her call 911. According to the report, the two men were later caught on video running away from the house. There was no sign that they had any guns and the nanny also confirmed the same. She mentioned that the men were wearing masks, gloves and vests. Thankfully, the children were not injured during the incident.
