Liverpool are ready to lock horns with Manchester United for the services of Goncalo Inacio, according to O Jogo. The report adds that Newcastle United are also in the race for the Portuguese defender.

Inacio has been in fine form for Sporting this season, registering 42 appearances across competitions. The 23-year-old was also a key part of the Portugal team that won the UEFA Nations League this month.

Inacio is under contract until 2027, and reportedly has a €60m release clause in his contract. However, it is believed that Sporting could let him go for less than that amount this summer.

The situation has alerted Liverpool, who are in the market for a new defender this year. The Reds won the Premier League this season, but are planning to upgrade their squad before the new campaign.

While Virgil van Dijk has agreed to stay for a bit longer, the Merseyside club have to lay down succession plans for the aging defender. Meanwhile, Liverpool are also looking for a Joe Gomez’s replacement, with the Englishman struggling to stay fit.

Inacio fits the bill, but interest from Manchester United could pose a problem. The Portuguese played under current Red Devils head coach Ruben Amorim at the Jose Alvalade Stadium and could be open to a reunion at Old Trafford. With Victor Lindelof already exiting the club, and Harry Maguire no longer young, a move for Inacio represents a smart bit of business for Manchester United.

Are Manchester United and Liverpool eyeing Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo?

Manchester United and Liverpool are among the club interested in a move for Antoine Semenyo this summer, according to Sky Sports. The 25-year-old registered 13 goals and seven assists from 42 games for Bournemouth this season.

His efforts have turned heads at Anfield, with the Reds apparently keen to add more firepower to their already impressive attack. Semenyo’s versatility also makes him a good option for the Merseyside club.

The Ghanaian is under contract with the Cherries under 2029, so he likely to cost a fat fee. Meanwhile, Manchester United are also in the race for the 25-year-old as they look to improve their faltering frontline.

However, Semenyo’s desire to play in the Champions League next season could work in Liverpool’s advantage in the race. Ruben Amorim’s team, meanwhile, are also hot on the heels of Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo, and may not pursue a move for Semenyo if they can secure the Cameroonian.
