Kim Soo Hyun’s ₹18.8 crore luxury apartment in Seoul has been seized after he failed to pay a penalty fee to a cosmetic company amid the Kim Sae-ron scandal.
Kim Soo Hyun has lost one of his luxury apartments worth ₹18.8 crore after a skincare brand seized it over an unpaid penalty linked to the Kim Sae-ron dating scandal.
South Korean superstar Kim Soo Hyun finds himself mired in deep legal and financial trouble amid the fallout from the scandal involving his ex-girlfriend, actress Kim Sae-ron. In a major blow, the Queen of Tears actor has reportedly lost ownership of one of his luxury residences in Seoul, valued at over Rs 18 crore, following a lawsuit by a cosmetic company.
According to a report by Korean media outlet Maeil Kyungje, skincare brand Classys terminated their endorsement contract with Kim and subsequently filed a lawsuit seeking penalty damages worth Rs 18.73 crore. The company alleged that his involvement in the Kim Sae-ron controversy damaged their brand reputation. On May 20, Seoul’s Eastern District Court approved seizure of one of Kim’s three high-end apartments located in the posh Galleria Forêt complex.
Kim Soo Hyun had purchased the units between 2013 and 2014, and the seized property is considered one of his most valuable assets.
In response, the actor’s legal team issued a strong statement, calling the seizure “unfair” and maintaining that Kim is a victim of malicious falsehoods. They attributed the controversy to HOVERLAB and YouTuber Kim Se Ui, whose channel Garosero allegedly spread damaging and baseless claims, which led to cancelled brand deals and defamation, “Although the issues lie with the assailants, the arrows are being pointed toward the victim simply because contractual obligations were not met,” the statement read.
The legal battle continues to intensify. Kim Soo Hyun’s agency, Gold Medalist, has already secured a court order to seize properties owned by Kim Se Ui, seeking damages amounting to Rs 24 crore.
Meanwhile, two more advertisers are reportedly preparing to pursue similar legal action against the actor, putting even more of his professional endorsements and properties at risk.
