Jack Grealish is set for pastures new after falling out of favour at Manchester City under Pep Guardiola.

But Ray Parlour believes that Arsenal would be unwise to pursue a move for the England international and should learn from Raheem Sterling’s failed loan spell at the Emirates.

Grealish is set to leave City just four years after joining the club for £100million, a British record fee at the time.

But the midfielder started just one league game in 2025 and was left out of City’s squad for their final game of the season agaist Fulham.

The 29-year-old has also been omitted from City’s squad for the Club World Cup, clearing the way for him to find an exit ahead of the new season.

Report suggest that City are willing to part ways with Grealish for just £40m, with several clubs in the Premier League and Europe already interested.

Former teammate Shay Given believes that ‘generational talent’ Grealish still ‘walks into any team in the country’ and tipped the Englishman for a move to a fellow top-six side.

But former Arsenal midfielder Parlour believes that Grealish would not suit a move to the Gunners despite his obvious talent.

‘Jack is a top player – I really rate him,’ Parlour told Metro via Online Casino.

‘Pep might have seen enough to say that he’s not going to be playing week in, week out but whenever I’ve seen him, he’s always made an impact and I’m sure quite a few clubs would be interested in him.

‘Jack is getting to that age where he just needs to play regularly, so he should be looking to go to a place where he thinks he can start every single week. Whether that could be Arsenal is up in the air because (Gabriel) Martinelli came back into form towards the end of the season.

‘Arsenal, I’m sure would be interested if the deal was right for the club but there’s quite a lot of good wingers out there and maybe Mikel should be looking for someone a bit younger and a bit more dynamic.

Pressed where Grealish could instead move too, Parlour added: ‘I’m sure there are lots and lots of clubs who would be interested but he has to be flexible.

‘I would like to see him in the No10 role. I don’t know whether he could go back to Villa or something like that. I really hope he stays in the Premier League because I love watching him every week.’

‘Arsenal need three top signings this summer’

While he does not see the upside in a move for Grealish, the Romford Pele is still keen for Arsenal to upgrade their attacking options out wide.

‘A winger would still be great to cover (Bukayo) Saka and Martinelli, he added.

‘That obviously let them down last year because when Saka was out, it affected (Martin) Odegaard’s game and the injuries really cost them. I know everyone gets injuries, but Liverpool, who went on to win it, had all their key players fit for long periods.’

Asked about who else the Gunners should target, he said: [A deal for Martin] Zubimendi appears to be getting closer, but the striker is the most important position for me.

‘Obviously, (Benjamin) Sesko has been well linked and he looks a good, young player. Very strong, quick and knows where the back of the net is, so he’d be a great addition.

‘But I think the club are behind Mikel and they will try and spend as much money as they are able to get the right players in. It’s a very attractive club to come to, but second is no good for too much longer. They need to try and step up again.’
