The Pittsburgh Steelers finally have their quarterback.
Aaron Rodgers is in town, and though he’s clearly not the player he was in his prime, he likely will be a significant upgrade.
ESPN pundit Stephen A. Smith recently gushed about this move for Pittsburgh.
“I am ecstatic as a Steelers fan that he is there. … I think the Steelers have a chance to make some noise,” Smith said on “Get Up.”

Smith claimed that Rodgers is significantly better than any of the potential options the Steelers had at quarterback and believes his partnership with head coach Mike Tomlin will be a successful match.
Also, despite all the skepticism and recent failures from both parties, the Steelers have a legitimate chance to compete with Rodgers at quarterback.
Granted, Rodgers hasn’t looked like an NFL MVP in three years, and he’s made some enemies and burned a lot of bridges in the meantime, so it’s easy to understand why some people are looking forward to his downfall.
Then again, as much as Rodgers has earned his fair share of detractors, as a player he was one of the best of all time.
Rodgers is most likely walking the final steps of his career, but he’s the kind of unique and historically great player who deserves the benefit of the doubt, and it’s never wise to count out someone of that caliber.
