Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky squared off against Sabrina Ionescu and the undefeated New York Liberty in a Commissioner’s Cup matchup on Tuesday. Reese started for Chicago alongside Kamilla Cardoso, Rebecca Allen, Ariel Atkins and Rachel Banham.

After a series of underwhelming performances, Reese finally found her rhythm on the offensive end and she wasted no time doing so. The Sky forward came out with urgency, doing everything she could to prevent her team from falling into an early deficit against the powerhouse Liberty squad.

Reese scored seven points in the opening quarter, shooting an efficient 3 of 4 from the field, including 1 of 2 from 3-point range. She also pulled down six rebounds and added one assist while playing the entire first period. Despite her strong start, the Sky trailed 26-15 heading into the second quarter.

The former LSU standout stayed aggressive and continued to execute efficiently on the offensive end. However, her individual efforts weren’t enough to spark a turnaround as the Sky trailed by 20 points heading into halftime.

At halftime, Angel Reese had 11 points on on 5 of 6 shooting, including 1 of 2 from deep. She also recorded nine rebounds, one assist and four turnovers in 17:45 minutes.
