Sunjay Kapur was the chairman of Sona Comstar, a leading automotive components firm with global operations, including manufacturing for EVs across India, China, Mexico, Serbia, and the US. Reportedly, he was the 2703th wealthiest individual in the world. His publicly listed company was valued at Rs 40,000 crore. Noted, Sona Comstar was founded by Sunajy’s father, Surinder Kapur, in 1997.
Personal life
Apart from Samaira and Kiaan, he was also the father of two more kids. His wife Priya Sachdev often shared photos on social media. Earlier, in a conversation with YouTube channel Indian Silicon Valley by Jivraj Singh Sachar, Sunjay revealed that he hired parenting coach to become better father. “It was “very important that our family comes together and stays together.” He also shared that he and Priya were taking “coaching sessions on parenting because we want to become better parents.” He also spoke about coming from a “blended family” and shared, “It’s not always easy when you have a blended family. but we have been very fortunate to have a system where we all work together, where we all love each other and I want that to continue even after my wife and I, our lifetime,” he added.
Before marrying Karisma Kapoor, Sunjay Kapur was married to designer Nandita Mahtani. Their marriage lasted two years before they separated in 2003. The same year, he tied the knot with Karisma, but the couple parted ways in 2014, and their highly publicised divorce was finalised in 2016.
In 2017, Sunjay married his longtime partner, model Priya Sachdev, in an intimate ceremony reportedly held in Delhi. The couple welcomed a son, Azarias Kapur, and also co-parented Priya’s daughter, Safira Chatwal, from her previous marriage.

Just hours before his sudden passing, Sunjay had taken to X (formerly Twitter) to express condolences to the victims of the Air India crash in Ahmedabad, writing, “Terrible news of the tragic Air India crash in Ahmedabad… May they find strength in this difficult hour.”
