The Milwaukee Bucks could be getting a new look entering next season as rumors are gaining traction about Brook Lopez’s departure from the team, ending what was a successful seven-year stint that saw him win his first-ever NBA championship in 2021 alongside two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo.

According to a report by Kevin O’Connor, the Bucks are more comfortable with letting Lopez exit the team in free agency this offseason. This meant that the team could be looking to find a replacement at the center position for next season.

The Bucks seem comfortable letting Brook Lopez walk in free agency, according to

It’s looking more and more likely that Lopez will have a new home next season after an outstanding seven-year stint in Milwaukee.

Lopez averaged 13.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.9 blocks per game as the Bucks’ starting center last season.

If the Bucks let go of him, the veteran center will be ending his Bucks career with 545 total games played, two All-Defensive Team citations, and an NBA title.

He joined the Bucks in the 2018-2019 season, becoming the team’s starting center as he revived his game with his 3-point shooting. He also helped as a defensive reliever for Antetokounmpo, protecting the paint

However, the team has struggled in the playoffs, losing in the first round for three straight seasons. In this season, the Bucks lost to the Indiana Pacers, who are now competing in the NBA Finals.

He would leave the team that has struggled to find its rhythm with a core bannered by Damian Lillard and Antetokounmpo.

Brook Lopez feels better than ever at 37 years old

Despite his age, Brook Lopez believes he is still improving as a player as he enters free agency this season. Talking to the media after their first-round series, Lopez expressed how he feels at his age as he enters an offseason of uncertainty.

“I feel like I kept getting better. I’m always working. I’m always wanting to improve my game,” Lopez said. “It’s just a matter of getting that work in, realizing what you have to do to get your team to succeed (and) get ready night in and night out.”

Lopez started his NBA career in 2008 when he was drafted No. 10 by the New Jersey Nets. After nine seasons with the Nets, he played for one season with the LA Lakers before moving to Milwaukee, where he has cemented himself.

Contenders are expected to line up to get Lopez’s services this season as he looks to find another team to stay productive in the latter part of his career.
